I encountered a small problem with drupal earlier. The upload module included in the core module doe s not allow attachments if the filesystem setting of the temporary folder is not entered on absolute path.
So to remedy this, just enter/know the absolute path of the tmp folder in Administer->Site Configuration -> File system.
