Until now, i don't have a working kernel 2.6.8 compiled from source with debian patches. Syemps, matyaga ako kaya malamang maya-maya ok na iyon.
would somebody tell me if below are wrong sequence of commands to compile a kernel?
make menuconfig
make
make modules
make modules_install
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-kernel-version
cp System.map /boot/System.map-kernel-version
edit /boot/grub/menu.lst --> add new kernel
edit /etc/lilo.conf
reboot
i compiled a few kernels with the above sequence and they work. But now my new kernel is panicking because it doesn't recognize the /dev/hda1 partition. haaaaaaaaayyyyy.....
i encountered such problem above when i loaded as modules the file system type, mobo chipset, and other block device parameters.
