I use Ubuntu as development machine. The upgrade to Ubuntu Hardy with app armor enabled causes MySQL to encounter installation problems.
Apparently this bug which is encountered upon changing MySQL data directory is not yet solved. So I also submitted same report.
To temporarily solve this until App Armor is properly configured for MySQL, disable the App Armor using the commands below:
sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor stop
sudo update-rc.d -f apparmor remove
